2025 MS Summer Reading Project

Students are asked to read (at least) one book this summer. This can be a book of their choosing, but we would like this to be student-reading-level appropriate.

After reading the book students will create a “One-Pager”. This will be due on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Class-time will not be given to work on this assignment. However, students enrolled in The Book Thief or Out of My Mind Book Clubs or the 6th Grade Boot Camp will have a little time dedicated to the creation of the One-Pager.

The purpose of a One-Pager is for students to creatively identify key elements of a book through ORIGINAL artwork. The One-Pager can be created on a standard piece of copy paper or a legal-sized piece of paper. Please do not use poster board or anything larger than 8 1⁄2 X 14 inch paper.

The One-Pager must have the following elements:
Title of Book 5 pts
Author of Book 5 pts
Characters 10 pts
A favorite quote (written out and then also illustrated.) 10 pts
Key scenes or details from the story 10 pts
Colorful / good use of space / neat 10 pts

Middle school students are welcome to email Mrs. Digan with questions about the assignment. [email protected]

Examples of One-Pagers have been attached. Remember the purpose is that the illustrations should “do the talking” and be COLORFUL.
